3 YEARS. 6 COMMUNITIES. 5 MINISTRIES
In 3 years, we will establish a presence in 6 communities for the purpose of developing a church that will focus on 5 core ministries of worship, discipleship, family, congregational care and missions.
1. OAK CREEK
Royal Family Kids (RFK)
Help abused, abandoned and neglected children in Milwaukee County. There are opportunities for Mentoring children throughout the year as well as volunteering at camp and gifting gifts to children in need at Christmas time.
Encouraging Leaders in Ministry (ELIM)
Support a ministry that shepherds couples by serving lunch and dinner. Every year, Harvest sends volunteers to prepare meals, lead music, and just listen to men and women in full time ministry around the world who have come to South East Wisconsin to rest and receive encouragement in the Word.
Harvest has been in Rwanda since 2007 serving with Solace Ministries, Rwanda. Solace brings hope and healing, through the love of Jesus to the widows and orphans of the 1994 Genocide where over one million people were slaughtered in 100 days, leaving people devastated and alone.
In 2009 we began our relationship with the rural community of Mugina. We have developed strong relationships and have seen what the love of Jesus can do in transforming lives. It is nothing short of miraculous!
Trips include building, encouraging and edifying the church. We will serve by meeting physical needs as we are able. We provide funds for a Community Center in Mugina that will serve as a place of worship, provide training in various trades, and provide income to sustain those who have so little. This trip will be unique as we join with Solace in celebration of their twentieth anniversary.
We believe God is leading us to plant a church in Mugina and have begun steps to have that become a reality. We will further that vision with each trip as we trust God to build His church.
Harvest is partnering with Bob and Rhonda Farley, missionaries from the U.S. reside in Punta Gorda, located in the Toledo District. It is the poorest area in the country.
Religious freedom is guaranteed in Belize, but many of the so-called Christian religions blend area’s pagan beliefs with Christianity, leaving little true evangelical Christianity.
Churches are far from healthy. The pastors lack training, leaving churches lacking in almost every area and are nowhere near being able to carry out the great commission. We further discovered that their wives and children lacked biblical knowledge and discipleship.
The Farley’s established The Belize Training Center to train young leaders and local Pastors who lack Biblical knowledge to embrace scripture, which in turn will change the spiritual health of the Belizean church.
Harvest has also established a partnership with a village and a church in Boom Creek, with the purpose of assisting that specific church to be the first of these healthy churches. Harvest will then, at the proper time, assist that church in duplicating itself with a church plant.
Boom Creek has a school where Harvest can build relationships and begin meet the physical needs of the school and village.
We partner with Word of Life (WOL) Mexico, an organization dedicated to evangelization and discipleship of youth through Bible clubs, sports outreach, camp experiences, street evangelism and dramas presented in the streets and schools.
In place for 31 years, WOL has 70 full time missionaries serving across Mexico. They are based on a 40-acre campground just outside the rural town of Bernal, 2.5 hours north of Mexico City and 40 minutes west of Querétaro.
Travel to Bernal is easy (2 short flights from O’Hare and a 20 minute bus ride). Our teams will use the facilities that support up to 460 campers per week during the summer. Beautiful cabins hold up to 16 people and have dedicated bathrooms. The food is amazing and plentiful – no one will go hungry! The campgrounds and surrounding areas are safe and family friendly.
Plans are to offer trip opportunities for the entire church, including our youth. Depending on group makeup, trip activities may include construction of new buildings or structures, maintenance of camp grounds, preparations for summer camp season, and participation in sports ministries, dramas or street evangelism. We may also work with one of the local orphanages supported by WOL Mexico and will eventually be working to plant a local church.
In February of 2015, Harvest sent an elder and a pastor to explore Nepal as a potential community for Vision 365. While there, these two were able to partner with the house church movement in Nepal to bring the gospel to unreached villages. Less than 2% of Nepalese claim Christianity as a religion. There are approximately 75,000 unreached villages in Nepal. One new church was planted in a previously unreached village during the February exploratory trip. In July of 2015, the elders of Harvest unanimously approved Nepal as the 5th community in Vision 365. The goal is to continue partnering with the Nepalese house church movement in reaching villages with the gospel and establishing new local churches. Harvest will do this through annual short term trips.
Racine, Wisconsin was officially named the 6th community for Vision 365 in January of 2016. One year later, in January of 2017, Harvest commissioned Pastor Justin James to church planting work in Racine. A core-team is meeting weekly in Racine for worship with the hope of a public launch on Easter Sunday, 2017. You can find more about Belle City Church on their website.
We are excited about the opportunities the Lord will grant to Harvest as we partner with Belle City Church in reaching the Racine community. We aim to reflect His light and hope as we meet the real needs of the city’s children, its homeless, its disadvantaged, its lost, and its forgotten. Pray that our work bears much fruit in the name of Christ Jesus and that many in Racine come to know and love the Lord.
