    Churches Helping Churches in Haiti

Home - News - Churches Helping Churches in Haiti 08.18.10 - Haitian pastors talk about the earthquake
In this video, Daniel Ulysse, a Haitian chaplain from Brooklyn, interviews a group of pastors who attended our Churches Helping Pastors retreat in May in Port-au-Prince about their churches, how the earthquake affected them and their communities, and their vision and prayers for the future.

02.19.10 -  CHC has raised more than $1.5 million for projects in Haiti, including the repair of a damaged seminary now housing 4,000 people displaced by the earthquake.  The new Executive Director, Thomas Kim, is working to identify strategic partnerships within North America and to determine the organizational requirements needed to grow CHC.

By now I am sure you are aware of the devastation that has occurred from the earthquake in Haiti.  In such catastrophic circumstances like these it is hard to imagine what a young church like ours could do to possibly help.

Yet Titus 3:14 reminds us, "And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help causes of urgent need, and not be unfruitful."

Aid is flowing quickly and freely to meet the immediate needs in Haiti.  Food and medicine is pouring in from relief efforts.  In time buildings and infrastructure will be rebuilt.  But who will help the church?  Who will rebuild these beacons of the gospel?

James MacDonald from Harvest Bible Fellowship and Mark Driscoll from Mars Hill Church in Seattle and the Acts 29 Church Planting Network are partnering together to rally like-minded churches across our country to help believers and the church in Haiti.

This Sunday, we will take a special offering over and above our weekly tithe to support the rescue, recovery and restoration of churches in Haiti.  Checks can be written to Harvest Bible Chapel.  With other like-minded churches, we can make a difference.

Ask God to prepare your heart for this Sunday.  Come early with the expectation that God will do an amazing work.  I'll share more about this effort then.

    Stand Firm,
    Pastor Joe Martinez
